Samsung Electronics unit Harman said on Tuesday it launched its in-car audio and communications solution, Harman Ready StreamShare. The product supports up to 4 passengers listening to separate media on their own devices while also enabling smooth in-car conversation.
Unlike existing in-car audio systems designed for single-source playback, it centrally manages multiple audio streams and communications through a central connection hub. Passengers can connect their mobile phones to the central in-car hub to create personal listening zones. They can listen individually through the ultra-low-latency headphones included in the system or join another zone to watch media together. It also allows hands-free switching to in-car conversation while wearing headphones.
Harman said it applied its patented Wireless Audio Ultra-Low-Latency streaming technology. Using the Driver Announcement function, the driver can pause all active streams and deliver a message to all passengers.
The central Bluetooth connection hub supports up to 4 customised media zones. Linked with a mobile app, passengers can listen to music individually or share media with others in the car. It also offers a real-time sharing function that lets a passenger in one zone invite another passenger to listen together.
It can be expanded to support passengers without personal devices or children, and to add parental control functions. It will also support integration with in-vehicle accessories such as external Bluetooth speakers, smart baby carriers and smart child car seats.
A Harman official said an "intelligent experience" aims to provide natural and meaningful interactions through a deep understanding of user needs and the integration of AI and other new technologies.
Zafar Razzacki, director of product management for Harman Ready StreamShare, said families in cars now expect vehicles to operate in line with personalised, highly connected and shared digital lifestyles. He said Harman Ready StreamShare makes travel time a more enjoyable and practical experience by allowing free use of personal devices while sharing connectivity.
He added that with the solution built on deep user insights and breakthrough innovation, Harman is positioning itself as a leader in easy-to-use and practically meaningful in-car audio experiences.
