Binance is adding 25 new listings to its traditional stock trading service, Binance Stock Trading, expanding both conventional securities and blockchain-based tokenised shares at the same time, U.Today reported on Sept. 21.

Binance reinforced its strategy of growing its existing securities brokerage business alongside tokenised stock services through the expansion.

New additions include FedEx Freight and Applied Aerospace and Defense. A leveraged ETF tracking SK Hynix was also added as a new trading target. Trades use T+1, the standard settlement method for U.S. stocks, and once settlement is complete users can also use FPSL, a fully paid securities lending programme.

The move goes beyond a simple expansion of tradable names. It is drawing attention because Binance is building a structure that allows the same U.S. assets to be traded in 2 ways: as traditional securities and as on-chain tokens.

Binance Stock Trading operates in line with U.S. market hours, and investors' securities are held in custody. By contrast, bStocks is designed to allow tokenised shares based on the BEP-20 standard to be traded directly from personal wallets. Trading is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and it also supports fractional purchases in $5 increments.

The tokenised stock market is also continuing to grow. According to bStocks beta metrics released by Binance, the value of tokenised assets on the platform rose 29.7 percent over the past 30 days to nearly $753.59 million. The number of holders was also tallied at 1.3 million, up 62 percent.

Investors were shown to be holding tokenised shares mainly in large technology stocks such as SpaceX, Nvidia and Tesla.

Trading volumes, however, showed a different trend. While new users and total assets increased, bStocks' monthly transfer volume fell 75 percent to $12.34 billion. That means the tendency to hold is strengthening rather than tokenised shares moving actively within the platform.

U.Today interpreted this as a move by investors to use tokenised shares as a long-term holding vehicle rather than for short-term intraday trading.

Use cases for tokenised shares are also expanding. Investors are using these assets to generate additional returns through staking or lending by depositing them into DeFi protocols. As demand grows to use traditional financial assets within the blockchain ecosystem, the role of tokenised shares appears to be expanding beyond a simple trading tool.

There are currently 77 real-world asset (RWA) tokens listed on bStocks. With Binance adding a large number of traditional stock trading names, the likelihood has increased that new names with high liquidity will also be added to the tokenised lineup.

As Binance expands traditional stock trading and on-chain tokenised shares at the same time, its two-track strategy linking traditional financial markets and blockchain markets is expected to become clearer.
