Samsung Electronics has introduced an education solution designed to reduce the burden of managing digital devices in schools. Samsung Electronics said on Thursday it launched Galaxy Classroom, which supports the introduction, management and use of Galaxy devices. The solution bundles the classroom lesson management tool Knox Classroom, the customised environment setup solution Knox Configure and free service benefits.

Knox Classroom supports teachers in viewing students' device usage in real time through a PC or an electronic whiteboard. About 500 current elementary, middle and high school teachers took part from the planning stage through development to reflect needs in actual classrooms. Teachers can check the screens of up to 60 students at the same time, making it easier to grasp learning progress. The company explained this allows teachers to identify early students who struggle to keep up and provide help.

The package also includes device control functions. Teachers can remotely run or pin necessary apps on students' devices to encourage focus during class, and can mute specific devices or lock the screen or the entire device. If device errors or delays in progress occur, it helps teachers connect remotely to resolve problems.

For group activities, teachers can manage devices by grouping them and can share a presenting student's screen by displaying it on other students' devices. From January next year, it will also support linking with Google education accounts so schools using existing Google accounts can use it without separate procedures.

Knox Configure for B2B customers provides functions to install education apps in bulk on tablets and to set key apps to run immediately on boot. It does not apply to PC products. Samsung Electronics said it will extend the free service period for tablets and PCs purchased through Galaxy Classroom by at least 1 year each, from the existing 2 years for tablets and 1 year for PCs. From the second half of this year, it also plans to begin a public education procurement programme for tablets and PCs based on the solution.

Samsung Electronics also plans to continue activities introducing how to use Galaxy Classroom in the field through its education platform Galaxy Campus, together with Galaxy Teacher Lab, a group of about 1,100 teachers with strong interest in Galaxy devices and AI use.

Jung Hojin (정호진), vice president of Samsung Electronics' Korea business (executive director), said, "Galaxy Classroom was planned to increase immersion in lessons, including by reflecting the voices of actual teachers." He added, "We expect teachers and students will be able to focus on creative activities using Galaxy devices."
