OpenAI has acquired medical data integration AI startup Torch in a stock transaction valued at about $100 million, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 13 (local time), citing The Information.
Torch is a startup that has developed technology that integrates personal medical data so AI can use it. It was founded by former staff of Forward, an AI healthcare service that closed late last year.
The acquisition will integrate the Torch team and technology into OpenAI's ChatGPT Health project. ChatGPT Health helps users manage medical records and analyse health status through a chatbot.
