Neowiz will reintroduce Japanese company Nihon Falcom's classic RPG 'Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch' as a PC and console game.

Neowiz said on Tuesday it signed an IP agreement with Nihon Falcom for 'Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch', securing rights to develop a PC and console package title and to publish it globally.

The White Witch is the third title in the 'Legend of Heroes' series, released in 1994. It is also the first title in the 'Gagharv Trilogy', which groups 'Legend of Heroes' installments 3 to 5 into a single universe.

The game is known for reducing the emphasis on combat and puzzles and focusing on story progression. It built a fan base with character behavior depictions, non-player character (NPC) dialogue that changes depending on story progress, and direction using music.

The Gagharv Trilogy was also selected as the top work fans want to revisit in a survey marking Nihon Falcom's 40th anniversary. The flow of the 'Legend of Heroes' series, including The White Witch, later continued into the 'Trails' series.

Neowiz plans to develop the new title in a way that preserves the original story and mood, based on its experience developing and publishing console games.

A Neowiz official said, "The White Witch is a work that RPG fans around the world have cherished for more than 30 years," and added, "We will deliver again the emotion players felt at the time, while presenting it with a level of completeness that allows first-time gamers to immerse themselves."

The official added, "We hope this agreement will serve as an opportunity to continue a mid- to long-term partnership with Nihon Falcom."

Nihon Falcom is a Japanese game company founded in 1981 and has developed series such as 'Trails' and 'Ys'. The Trails series has surpassed 10 million in cumulative sales.
