[DigitalToday reporter Hyunwoo Choo (추현우)] Sony Korea has officially launched in South Korea Sony's first fisheye zoom G lens, the 'FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G' (SEL814G).

SEL814G adds G lens resolution to a zoom range spanning from 8mm circular fisheye to 14mm diagonal fisheye. With a 180-degree angle of view, it captures dynamic spaces and subjects and can be widely used for landscapes, architecture and sports photography, as well as on video production sites.

It applies ED (extra-low dispersion) and aspherical lenses to suppress chromatic aberration and other aberrations and maintains even resolution across the entire zoom range. The minimum shooting distance, based on the telephoto angle of view, is 0.15 metres, and the maximum magnification is 0.22x, enabling close-up fisheye shooting. It weighs only about 314 grams, making it easy to use for handheld shooting and to mount on equipment such as gimbals. It also adopts an inner zoom design to minimise shifts in the centre of gravity during zoom operation.

When used as a dual set with the Venice Extension System Mini, the left and right lenses are positioned 64mm apart, the same as the distance between a person's pupils, to deliver a natural sense of space. It is also described as suitable for shooting 3D and VR content. It supports Linear Response MF for fast and precise focus control and suppresses focus breathing, making it favourable for video shooting. It also has a focus mode switch, a zoom lock switch and an aperture ring with a click ON/OFF switch. A dust- and moisture-resistant design and front fluorine coating make it highly usable for outdoor shooting.

SEL814G is priced at 2,449,000 won and can be purchased through Sony Store official online and offline sales channels.
