[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee] LG Uplus is rolling out an entry-level smart home product priced at 5,500 won a month for customers using a home camera for the first time.

LG Uplus said on Sept. 8 it is launching Homecam Lite, a smart home service for customers buying a home camera for the first time.

Homecam Lite offers a home camera, 20GB of cloud storage and insurance compensation for fire and video hacking damage for 5,500 won a month on a three-year contract. It aims to lower the price burden and strengthen security functions for parents and customers raising pets who are considering buying a home camera for the first time.

The new Momca Lite home camera included in the service supports QHD image quality, allowing users to check video in daytime and at night. It also provides a function that detects and tracks people, pets, movement and sound and records them. Video can be recorded continuously for 24 hours using an SD card. Key footage can be stored in the 20GB cloud storage space provided as standard. Users can receive real-time alerts through the app and view up to 4 camera feeds simultaneously on one screen.

For security, it applies a PUF-based security chip using a physical anti-cloning technology that generates a unique encryption key for each device. It also supports two-step login authentication and video data encryption. LG Uplus provides insurance to prepare for fire and video hacking damage. It offers compensation up to 50 million won for a fire accident and up to 2 million won for video hacking damage.

Homecam Lite is open not only to LG Uplus customers but also to internet users of other telecom operators. Users can choose between installation by a home manager visit and activation via parcel delivery.
