[DigitalToday reporter Daegeon Seok (석대건)] Samsung Electronics said on Thursday it won four innovation awards at IFA 2026, Europe’s largest home appliance exhibition, being held in Berlin through Sept. 8. The awards are part of a programme launched by IFA Berlin in 2025. Samsung Electronics received one top innovation award and one innovation award in the design category, and two innovation awards in the home appliances category.

The Bespoke AI WindFree Combo Pro Wall-mounted air conditioner won both the top innovation award in the design category and an innovation award in the home appliances category, taking two prizes. It was recognised for reinterpreting the air conditioner as an interior object that harmonises with a space. Samsung Electronics designed the product front as a flat surface and placed ultra-precise microholes, a core element of the WindFree function, at the bottom of the unit.

The AI Motion Wind feature detects a user’s location and movement through a motion radar sensor and provides 7 types of customised airflow and cooling. It finely controls the heat exchanger to maintain humidity. It also supports a Wearable Good Sleep feature that works with the Galaxy Watch to run cooling based on sleep patterns.

The Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator won an innovation award in the design category. It features a 32-inch screen on the front and provides schedule, photo and health information through Voice ID, which identifies a user’s voice, and Now Brief, which recommends personalised information. It also applies an Auto Door function that opens and closes the door by voice and touch. Samsung Electronics combined Google Gemini with its AI Vision feature, which recognises items going in and out using an internal camera, to expand recognition scope.

The Bespoke AI Hybrid 4-Door Kitchen Fit Max refrigerator won an innovation award in the home appliances category. It allows the doors to fully open with only 4 mm of clearance space on each side, eliminating the need for separate cabinetry work. It adjusted the thickness of door insulation to expand internal storage space while keeping the exterior size. It also includes AI Hybrid Cooling, which cools with a compressor during normal use and also operates a Peltier semiconductor device when the doors are opened and closed frequently.

Samsung Electronics will run an exhibition space in Berlin’s Humboldt Carré from Sept. 2 to 6 during IFA 2026 under the theme, “Your AI Everyday Companion”. It plans to present an AI life that considers people’s daily lives and needs.
