Coupang Eats joins in charging commission on takeout orders
Coupang Eats will introduce a 6.8 percent brokerage fee on takeout orders made through its app from April, it said. The move means the country’s three major delivery apps will all apply commissions to takeout orders, with Baedal Minjok at 6.8 percent and Yogiyo at 7.7 percent. Coupang Eats said traditional markets and the bottom 20 percent of small merchants by sales will be excluded. Merchants have stepped up opposition, while operators cite platform costs.
