World launches WorldID for banks, Zoom deepfake detection goes live
World, an identity verification project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, said on Oct. 19 it launched a WorldID product line aimed at banks and financial firms. It is the first time the company has introduced products targeting a specific industry. The lineup includes the WorldID app, WorldID for Zoom and WorldID for agents. World said the products can help prevent deepfake fraud and AI impersonation across customer accounts, employee work and AI agents.

OpenAI is moving into humanoid robot development, CEO Sam Altman (Sam Altman) said on a podcast, calling a humanlike form practical because the world is designed for people. He said the bigger focus is the intelligence that perceives surroundings, interprets instructions, plans actions and controls the body. Altman said a 2027 demonstration is possible but robots walking the streets will take more years. Job postings show hiring across control software, actuators, manufacturing and supply chains.

Tesla says new Roadster to enter mass production in 2028
Tesla has said it will start mass production of its new Roadster electric sports car in 2028, eight years after it was first unveiled in 2017, Engadget reported. Tesla showcased a redesigned Roadster at an event, including a demonstration featuring a C-shaped ramp, suction device and rocket boosters. Elon Musk said production would begin in 2028 and called it real this time, after repeated delays.
