X teases launch of standalone messenger XChat with iPhone, iPad support
X\'s standalone messaging app XChat will launch on April 17 for iPhone and iPad, IT outlet 9to5Mac reported on April 10. Confirmed App Store listings showed the app icon, design previews and the release date. XChat is a separate messenger designed to let users chat privately with anyone on X. It is provided without ads or tracking, and messages are protected with end-to-end encryption.

X starts testing XChat app for iOS, Android app to follow soon
Social media platform X has begun distributing a beta version of its standalone messaging app XChat for iOS to 1,000 users, TechCrunch reported on Monday. X plans to expand the beta program soon. XChat is an upgraded version of X’s existing direct-message feature. X says it supports end-to-end encryption, though security experts have warned it is less secure than other encrypted messaging apps such as Signal.
