Thomson Reuters launches in-house AI model for legal work
Thomson Reuters has launched an in-house large language model called Thomson tailored for legal work. SiliconANGLE reported on Aug. 24 that the model supports tasks related to legal advice by combining Thomson Reuters legal content with external providers’ LLMs. Thomson will be applied first to CoCounsel’s table-based analysis for large-scale document review, while CoCounsel keeps a multi-model structure. Thomson Reuters said it spent about $40 million over two years and cut final training costs to about $450,000.

Thomson Reuters expands enterprise AI on Snowflake
Snowflake said on Tuesday that Thomson Reuters will build an enterprise AI and data platform on its platform. The company said Thomson Reuters has used Snowflake since 2021 to integrate enterprise governance and security capabilities with scalable data infrastructure. More than 1,500 employees access governed data through Snowflake. Thomson Reuters is also modernising legacy systems using Snowflake’s coding agent CoCo.

Snowflake updates CoCo coding agent to boost autonomous execution
Snowflake said on Monday it unveiled new features for its CoCo coding agent and introduced Datastream, a fully managed streaming service based on Apache Kafka, at its Snowflake Summit 26 event. The company launched CoCo Desktop, a mobile app and a Slackbot, and added extensions and plugins including for VS Code and Microsoft Excel. It also strengthened CoCo’s autonomous execution and automation with access controls and audit trails.
