Coinbase partners with Kalshi to launch prediction market in all 50 U.S. states

Coinbase has started prediction market services in all 50 U.S. states, supporting prediction trading on topics including sports, politics and culture, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 28. Coinbase is working with Kalshi to build an onchain prediction market and plans to offer a platform for forecasting outcomes across a wide range of subjects, from sports events to U.S. politics. The launch comes ahead of the NFL Super Bowl championship game.

Crypto market loses $150 billion as traders shift to prediction betting

About $150 billion in value has evaporated in a crypto market downturn, prompting traders to move from meme coins to prediction markets that trade on binary outcomes such as elections, weather and central bank policy. Weekly volumes on Polymarket and Kalshi rose to $6 billion in January from about $500 million in June. App downloads surged, while Binance downloads fell more than 50 percent. Data show many prediction traders still lose money.
