Silicon Valley AI researchers take up smoking to show faith AI will cure cancer, Palantir CTO says
Smoking is emerging as a new form of showing off among some AI researchers, based on claims that it signals belief AI will eventually cure cancer. Palantir Chief Technology Officer Shyam Sankar said some researchers started smoking to demonstrate strong faith in AI. He provided no names or evidence. Sankar also criticised Silicon Valley’s AI boom as mass mental illness and social delusion.
