Kakao Games posts Q1 operating loss of 25.5 billion won, prepares new titles including \'Odin Q\'
Kakao Games posted a first-quarter operating loss of 25.5 billion won as revenue fell due to declining sales from existing live games and a lack of new releases. Quarterly sales came to 82.9 billion won, down 33 percent from a year earlier and 16 percent from the previous quarter. Kakao Games plans to make this year a turning point for a performance rebound by rolling out major new titles in the second half, with a strategy centred on global markets and PC and console platforms. It reported 2025 revenue of 465.0 billion won and an operating loss of 39.6 billion won, with fourth-quarter revenue down 25.8 percent and an operating loss of 13.1 billion won. The company aims to control labour and marketing costs while accelerating profitability from the third quarter.

KakaoGames said it posted a 39.6 billion won operating loss last year on a consolidated basis, swinging to a deficit from a year earlier. Revenue fell 25.9 percent to 465.0 billion won, and net loss totalled 143.0 billion won. Fourth-quarter revenue slipped 25.8 percent to 98.9 billion won and operating loss was 13.1 billion won. The company plans to focus on games and expand platforms.
