Tesla rolls out in-car Grok AI in Japan, beta available without extra fees

Tesla has begun supporting the conversational AI Grok in its vehicles in Japan. Japan ITmedia reported that Tesla Japan announced the rollout on its official X account. The feature is available on vehicles running software version 2026.20 or later and requires a Premium Connectivity subscription, with an English help page also noting Wi-Fi as an option. The beta does not require a separate Grok account or additional fees as of July 10, but it does not support vehicle control functions such as climate or media.

Tesla 2026 Model Y: What changes in base vs premium versions

Tesla’s 2026 Model Y is sold in two versions, a base model and a premium model, with differences in price, battery capacity, charging performance and interior features. The base model is priced at $39,990 and uses a 60 kWh battery with a 150 kW maximum charging rate. The premium model costs $45,990, has a 75 kWh battery and supports up to 250 kW charging, along with upgraded lighting, seating and audio equipment.
