Kakao communicates with employees ahead of spin-off; employment and work conditions to carry over
Kakao said on Oct. 16 it held an \"Open Talk\" session with employees the previous day to share preparations for its planned corporate spin-off. CEO Chung Shin-a, CFO Shin Jong-hwan and CTO Song Jae-ha attended. Kakao said all employees\' jobs and employment terms would be comprehensively carried over to the new entity, KakaoAI, along with related rights and obligations. It aims to complete the spin-off on Jan. 1, 2027.

Kakao mulls restructuring as it holds emergency town hall and disclosure
Kakao has begun work to restructure its group governance. The company will hold a staff town hall meeting called \"Open Talk\" at 10 a.m. on Aug. 21 to explain the direction of the overhaul and is expected to disclose details around the same time. Kakao has not officially released specific agenda items. Market attention is focused on whether Kakao will separate the KakaoTalk business.

Codegate 2026 ends on high note as \'AI hacker\' takes part
South Korea\'s largest international hacking defence competition, Codegate 2026, wrapped up after a two-day schedule with white hackers from around the world taking part. The Ministry of Science and ICT held the event at Seoul\'s COEX, combining a contest and a security conference. Japan\'s BunkyoWesterns won the general division, while South Korean junior competitor Kim Jun-won won the junior division. An invited \"AI hacker\" also competed.
