LG Display posts Q3 operating profit of 250.6 billion won, down 42 percent on year

LG Display said on Oct. 22 it posted third-quarter consolidated revenue of 6.277 trillion won and operating profit of 250.6 billion won. Revenue rose 12 percent from the previous quarter and operating profit swung to a profit from a loss. From a year earlier, revenue fell 10 percent and operating profit declined 42 percent, which the company attributed to reduced shipments of mid-sized LCD products under a profitability-focused portfolio strategy.

SK Materials JNC pushes mass production of perovskite material linking OLED and QD

SK Materials JNC, a display materials company, has signed an MOU with SN Display to build a mass-production system for perovskite nanocrystal materials, it said on Monday. SN Display, founded by Seoul National University professor Tae-Woo Lee, said it has technology to mass-synthesize the material at high efficiency. The companies plan to combine synthesis technology with production and quality-control capabilities to commercialise perovskite emissive materials for display applications.

Apple to unveil new products on Oct. 28; touchscreen MacBook Pro and OLED iPad mini possible

Apple will hold a new product event on Oct. 28 and is expected to present updates to major products such as the MacBook Pro and iPad mini. Foreign media reported the company released a teaser using the phrase “Pro and tell” and will host a media hands-on event in Los Angeles starting at 10 a.m. Pacific time. The event is expected to focus on product demonstrations rather than a keynote.
