Vice Chair Ha Jung-woo visits Daegu manufacturing AX sites, checks robots and mobility
The presidential National AI Strategy Committee said its standing vice chair, Ha Jung-woo, visited Daegu on Oct. 21 to inspect artificial intelligence transformation (AX) sites in manufacturing, robotics and mobility. Ha attended the opening of FIX 2026 at Daegu EXCO and toured an AI-based process innovation simulation center supporting small and midsize firms. He also reviewed manufacturing AX applied to cathode active material production at L&F Plus. He is set to visit Pohang on Oct. 22.

Microsoft scraps UK Nscale data centre deal
Microsoft has pulled out of a data centre deal it was pursuing with British cloud company Nscale, Reuters reported on Oct. 18, citing the Telegraph. The report said Microsoft, one of Nscale\'s two biggest customers, recently terminated a contract for the Loughton data centre in Essex. Nscale said its relationship with Microsoft remained strong and long-term, and that it would continue the Loughton project and its UK business while seeking alternative power sources.

China\'s StepFun launches agent-based STEPX Neo smartphone, redesigns OS from scratch
China AI startup StepFun has launched the STEPX Neo smartphone built around AI agents rather than apps, a report said. The handset runs Step AOS 1.0 and includes a built-in AI agent called Amoo. The phone is priced at 3,999 yuan, or about $560, and comes with a 12-month AI plan allowing 100 billion tokens per month. StepFun did not disclose pricing after one year.
