Naver payments vs Kakao chats: Battle to capture everyday data in AI era
Naver and Kakao are moving to secure everyday data to raise personalisation in artificial intelligence services. Naver is collecting visit, order and payment data through its offline payment terminal and linking it with existing search and booking information. Kakao is focusing on remembering users’ schedules, interests and preferences scattered across KakaoTalk chats through long-term on-device AI memory, and on connecting external transaction functions such as food delivery.

Naver steps up AI expansion from infrastructure to offline data
Naver is expanding AI infrastructure and consumer services, including an AI factory being developed with Nvidia and broader use of action-oriented AI across search, shopping, Place and payments. It plans to connect offline data through Npay Connect. Naver reported second-quarter revenue of 3.39 trillion won, up 16.2 percent, and operating profit of 520.3 billion won, down 0.2 percent, citing higher costs including AI infrastructure and Npay Connect terminals.

Deutsche Bank, NHN KCP selected as official payment service provider for Henkel Consumer Brands Korea
NHN KCP said on Tuesday it has been selected, together with German financial institution Deutsche Bank, as the official domestic payment service provider for Henkel Consumer Brands Korea. Under the contract, the two will provide payment gateway services on Henkel’s B2B platform used to order products from key beauty brands. They said they plan to expand their linked payment solutions to other companies and merchant networks.
