NIA to test AI-RAN on university campuses to boost competitiveness of Korean networks
South Korea\'s National Information Society Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT will use university campuses to test AI-RAN that combines AI and network technology. They launched the \'K-AI Network Competitiveness Enhancement\' project at Seoul National University on Oct. 1. The core campus pilot will receive 2.2 billion won in government funding this year and run through December 2027 with Newgens and partners.

NIA launches Net Challenge Camp Season 13 to unearth university AI ideas
National Information Society Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT said they held a launch briefing for Net Challenge Camp Season 13 on July 23 and will begin full project work. The programme uses the KOREN research testbed to discover university students’ AI and network technology and service ideas and support validation in a real test environment. This year, 18 student teams were selected.

NIA holds briefing on AI network project
South Korea\'s National Information Society Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT held a joint briefing on Wednesday at the agency\'s Seoul office on their 2026 artificial intelligence network plans. The event, co-hosted with the AI Network Alliance, introduced objectives, implementation steps and application schedules for six projects, and outlined plans for operating the alliance. NIA said the projects aim to build an ultra-intelligent network and strengthen 6G and AI network industry competitiveness.
