Hyundai Motor CEO warns U.S. must keep barriers to block Chinese carmakers
Hyundai Motor\'s chief executive warned the United States should keep high tariffs and market-entry barriers to prevent Chinese carmakers from gaining a foothold. He said Chinese brands are rapidly expanding their share in Europe and could do the same in the U.S. if trade barriers are lowered. He cited Britain, which does not apply extra EU-style tariffs on Chinese EVs, and data showing higher Chinese-brand sales shares in Britain than in the EU.

Hyundai Motor is nurturing robotaxis as a new source of demand as U.S. electric vehicle demand slows. It plans to produce tens of thousands of Ioniq 5 robotaxis for Waymo at its Georgia plant. CEO Jose Munoz called robotaxis the biggest new opportunity for its EV business and said Hyundai is boosting the use of existing assets. Hyundai has adjusted production at its Savannah-area plant, reducing EV output and increasing hybrids while diverting EV capacity to robotaxis.

Hyundai Motor considers selling humanoid robots through dealer network
Hyundai Motor is considering selling humanoid robots and robot dogs through its existing car dealer network and exploring whether Hyundai Capital can provide similar financing support for robots. CEO Jose Munoz raised the possibility at an investor event. The plan builds on Hyundai Motor Group\'s robotics push, including its 2021 acquisition of an 80% stake in Boston Dynamics. The consumer robot market remains early, and Hyundai has not clarified target buyers.
