Cursor acquires open source coding assistant Continue
AI coding tool Cursor has acquired the open source coding assistant Continue. TheNewsStack reported on June 22 that the deal was signed alongside the timing of SpaceX\'s acquisition of Cursor for $60 billion, meaning Continue also moved under SpaceX. The terms were not disclosed. Existing Continue users can export data until July 15, after which it will be deleted. Continue is a Y Combinator alum and was offered as a VS Code extension, JetBrains plugin and CLI.

OpenAI launches GPT-5.5 and Codex on Amazon Bedrock
OpenAI on Monday launched its latest AI models GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.4, along with coding agent Codex, on Amazon Web Services\' generative AI service Amazon Bedrock. The launch allows South Korean companies to use OpenAI\'s newest models in an AWS environment, with usage integrated into existing AWS cloud commitments. OpenAI said GPT-5.5 focuses on autonomous multi-step tasks, while GPT-5.4 offers better cost efficiency per token for large production workloads.

JetBrains says ROI-proof pressure in cloud shifts will repeat for AI agents
JetBrains has unveiled JetBrains Central, an AI coding agent governance and execution platform. A JetBrains executive said proving the business value of AI is difficult and that pressure to demonstrate ROI, similar to cloud migrations, will recur with agent AI. A JetBrains survey of 11,000 developers found 90 percent already use AI at work and 66 percent of companies plan to adopt coding agents within 12 months.
