Itaú Unibanco registers as crypto trading and custody provider in Brazil, first for local banks
Itaú Unibanco, Brazil’s largest private bank, has formally registered with the central bank as a cryptocurrency service provider, covering brokerage and custody. The move comes as Brazil’s licensing framework for crypto operators takes effect, requiring registration for firms that hold, move or trade crypto for clients. The new rules set custody requirements, including segregation of client assets, minimum capital and governance, controls and anti-money laundering standards.
