Why Nvidia wants to develop even large AI models itself
Nvidia is speeding up its push to develop and distribute its own open-source AI models as part of an effort to expand hardware demand, although some see a risk of competition with AI companies that buy its chips. The Information reported Nvidia is developing the open-source large language model Nemotron 4 with at least 1 trillion parameters. Nvidia has also rolled out lightweight models and free routing software and increased spending on computing resources through cloud contracts.

SKT\'s A.X K2 posts top-tier results in AI math reasoning evaluations
SK Telecom said its A.X K2, developed for a government-led sovereign foundation model project, posted strong results on math-reasoning benchmarks. The company said the model scored 29 out of 42 on the IMO 2026 evaluation, meeting this year’s gold medal cutoff, and tied for the top score on the MathArena AIME 2026 leaderboard with 97.1 percent accuracy. It also said A.X K2 achieved a perfect score in the KMO 2026 second round.

U.S. open-weight AI startups emerge, but checking China is unclear
As Chinese AI companies shake the global market with low-cost open-weight models that users can download and modify, U.S. startups are also emerging with open-weight offerings. The Wall Street Journal named Arcee, Reflection AI, Poolside and Thinking Machine Lab as drawing attention. Demand is rising in the United States for domestic open-weight models amid geopolitical concerns, but fundraising remains difficult and performance against leading Chinese models is still uncertain.
