AI hacking agent Zealot autonomously breaches cloud and steals data without instructions
Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 has developed a proof-of-concept system called Zealot to test whether AI can autonomously hack cloud environments, SecurityWeek reported. In a deliberately vulnerable Google Cloud Platform sandbox, researchers set only a goal of extracting sensitive data from BigQuery, without providing attack steps. Zealot scanned the network, found virtual machines, exploited a web flaw, stole credentials and escalated privileges to extract data, the report said.

Microsoft rolls out major security update for AI agents
Microsoft unveiled a broad set of security updates aimed at addressing the spread of AI agents. The update covers agent governance, identity protection, data security, cloud and endpoint defense, and AI-based security operations. A key element is Microsoft Agent 365, due for general release on May 1, which centralises management of AI agents. The company also introduced new visibility tools, expanded identity features, embedded data controls into AI workflows, and accelerated security operations automation.

Google DeepMind to hold Gemini 3 Seoul hackathon on Feb. 28
Google DeepMind said on Monday it will hold the Gemini 3 Seoul Hackathon in Seoul on Feb. 28 for South Korean developers. Co-hosted with Google AI Futures Fund and Attention X, the event is the fourth in Asia-Pacific after Singapore, India and Japan. Participants will deploy working applications on Google Cloud Platform using tools including Antigravity, AI Studio and Vertex AI. Prize credits total about 220 million won ($150,000).
