Prosecutors seek 15 years for Kim Bum-soo in appeal over SM stock manipulation
South Korean prosecutors asked an appeals court to sentence Kim Bum-soo (김범수), head of Kakao\'s Future Initiative Center, to 15 years in prison and a 510 million won fine over alleged stock-price manipulation during Kakao\'s bid for control of SM Entertainment. They also sought 12 years for Bae Jae-hyun and fines for Kakao and Kakao Entertainment. Kim was acquitted at trial, and prosecutors appealed.

Kakao\'s Kim Bum-soo makes surprise visit to new hire training
Kakao Future Initiative Center head Kim Bum-soo visited the group’s new hire training without notice at Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Kakao said on Thursday. He held an impromptu Q&A, took photos with recruits and spoke about work in the AI era. Kim urged staff to automate tasks repeated more than twice and to build ideas at least weekly. He called the AI era both a crisis and an opportunity and stressed problem definition.

Former Kakao Entertainment co-CEO Jinsoo Lee joins Kakao Future Initiative Center
Former Kakao Entertainment co-CEO Jinsoo Lee has joined Kakao\'s Future Initiative Center, the group’s strategic control tower, to oversee mid- to long-term strategy. Industry sources said Lee began work on Jan. 5 as head of future strategy. Kakao created a new unit within the center and appointed him to lead it. He will support founder Bumsoo Kim and help shape future business strategy for the AI era.
