Unauthorised Claude token usage spreads after session hijacking, users say
Cases have emerged in which hackers hijacked login sessions for Anthropic’s Claude accounts and used Claude Code tokens without authorisation. Anthropic confirmed abnormal activity on some accounts, forced session terminations, invalidated server-side tokens and issued refunds to some users. A UK-based independent AI consultant reported unexplained usage increases on a paid plan and said detailed logs were unavailable. Similar complaints surfaced on Reddit and GitHub, including sudden usage spikes and billing changes.

More users are spending hundreds of dollars a month on premium generative AI subscriptions such as Anthropic’s Claude Max, ChatGPT Pro and Google AI Ultra, treating them as work infrastructure rather than consumer services. Some pay more than $1,000 a month to combine token limits and strengths across models. Time savings is a key factor, though complaints about high prices and weaker performance are also growing, including around Anthropic’s Opus 4.7 model.

xAI integrates into SpaceX AI division SpaceXAI, accelerating space data centre plan
Elon Musk announced he is dismantling the standalone corporate structure of AI company xAI and integrating it into SpaceX’s internal AI organisation, SpaceXAI. The move formalises an integration plan Musk flagged in February and is expected to connect xAI’s AI technology more directly with SpaceX’s core businesses, including Starlink and Starship. Public disclosures have begun to reflect the change, including an Anthropic contract referencing SpaceXAI and the Colossus 1 data centre.
