Scholars pan, audiences cheer as \'Odyssey\' sparks hot debate overseas
Christopher Nolan’s film \'Odyssey\' has remained controversial since its casting and design were first revealed. After release, it won substantial praise and strong box office results, but debate continues between classicists and general audiences, IT outlet Ars Technica reported on Aug. 2. The film adapts an epic poem from around the 8th century BC in a modern way. Classicist Emily Wilson criticised its focus and choices, while others defended Nolan’s intent.
