Google Chrome to update every two weeks as AI reshapes security landscape

Google has shortened Chrome’s major update cycle to two weeks from four, applying the new schedule with the release of Chrome 153 for desktop, Android and iOS. The company said the change is aimed at speeding security responses as AI-era threats evolve and patches grow in scale. The shorter cycle will deliver fixes, features and performance improvements more frequently and may help narrow the “N-day” gap between code changes and user delivery.

Zenity reveals 2 browser hacking techniques targeting Claude and ChatGPT Atlas

AI security firm Zenity disclosed two browser hacking techniques targeting Claude for Chrome and OpenAI’s agent-style browser ChatGPT Atlas, Security Week reported on Aug. 6. Zenity said ChatGPT Atlas is vulnerable to zero-click indirect prompt injection due to a structural design issue. Researchers demonstrated scenarios including reading WhatsApp Web contacts, sending phishing messages and completing Amazon purchases by changing delivery addresses. Zenity also showed a zero-click attack chain against the official Claude extension.

OpenAI to end \'ChatGPT Atlas\' web browser on Aug. 9, changes Mac users need to know

OpenAI will end service for its Mac-only web browser \'ChatGPT Atlas\' on Aug. 9, the IT outlet 9to5Mac reported. OpenAI warned Atlas may no longer open or support web browsing and agent-style workflows after the shutdown. Bookmarks will not migrate automatically, and users are advised to export them to an HTML file and save key pages before the deadline. Chat history will remain accessible. Security updates will also stop.
