Electric vehicles are changing the auto industry’s supply-chain structure faster than internal-combustion models, with clearer momentum in battery recycling and reuse, the use of low-carbon steel and aluminium, and responsible sourcing of battery minerals. A new leaderboard noted automakers moving toward cleaner, more transparent supply chains. Regulation and consumer demand are pushing the trend, while some problems such as coal-based steel and labour issues persist. Companies are starting to market supply chains as a competitive edge.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled MB.Drive Assist Pro, a new advanced driver assistance system designed for urban environments as well as highways, and demonstrated it in San Francisco using a next-generation CLA prototype. The Nvidia Drive AV-based system offers enhanced Level 2 point-to-point assistance but requires drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and watch the road. Mercedes emphasises multi-sensor fusion, redundant algorithms and quarterly over-the-air updates. Pricing has not been disclosed.
