Bots vs bot detection technology: a world of constant battles in the AI era
CAPTCHAs are evolving as bots surge and become better at solving image puzzles, prompting websites to deploy AI-based detection that is less visible to users. The Wall Street Journal reported CAPTCHAs still play a key role in blocking spam, attacks and unauthorised scraping. Cloudflare said bots accounted for 57 percent of traffic as of June. Researchers and companies say attackers keep bypassing defences, pushing the industry toward judging intent, not just bot versus human.

Testing ChatGPT-6 Astra for tedious tasks from train tickets to account deletion
A reporter tested OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra on delayed web chores ranging from an OTT compensation claim and account deletion to bargain shopping and Chuseok train tickets. It could navigate sites, summarise conditions and complete multi-step forms, but logins, phone verification, CAPTCHAs and anti-macro blocks limited hands-free use. It performed well on checking National Assembly schedules and creating a GIF thumbnail, and it helped upload images and captions in a newsroom editing system.

Amazon\'s Mechanical Turk halts new customer sign-ups, effectively winding down
Amazon Web Services will stop registering new customers for its crowdsourcing service Mechanical Turk, which has operated for more than 20 years. Launched in 2005, Mechanical Turk is a marketplace where users post tasks that are hard to automate, such as CAPTCHA verification and sentiment analysis, for others to bid on and complete. Amazon says existing users will not be affected. Reports said the service is in maintenance and may be nearing closure.
