AI not just a young workers issue as older U.S. employees face job loss, retirement pressure
Older U.S. workers aged 55 and above in jobs with high exposure to AI have increasingly left their positions in recent years, a new paper found. Research from Boston College’s Center for Retirement Research said the likelihood of unemployment or voluntary exits rose somewhat after the launch of ChatGPT, reversing a prior pattern. The study outlined three possible effects of AI on career length, and surveys showed mixed views of AI among older workers.
