AI-focused M&A gains pace as big cloud firms step up security expansion

M&A activity is picking up as the security industry reshapes around AI. Databricks is acquiring AI-based cyberattack detection startup Panther Labs, its third cybersecurity deal this year after Antimatter and SiftD. Identity security firm SailPoint Technologies is buying AI agent security startup Entro Security. Big cloud providers are also moving faster on security, with AWS launching an AI platform and Google Cloud supporting local data residency in its Seoul region.

Beyond Identity says Ceros controls access up to AI agent operations

Beyond Identity has launched an AI agent security platform called Ceros, SiliconANGLE reported on June 16. Beyond Identity provides an identity and access management platform for enterprises to manage employee application access. Its platform applies multi-factor authentication and blocks login requests from insecure devices. Ceros extends those controls to AI agents, automates session tracking and records who ran sessions on which devices. It also monitors external components used by AI agents and lets administrators set tool-use conditions.
