Countries expand social media bans for teens amid doubts over effectiveness
More countries are moving to ban or restrict social media use by children and teenagers despite questions over effectiveness. Britain plans to ban social media for all under-16s from early 2027, covering apps including Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X. Australia has already imposed a similar ban, and Malaysia has started enforcing rules against under-16 accounts.
