Intel 18A-based new laptop chips face supply shortage reports, testing manufacturing comeback plan
Intel’s next-generation laptop processors are reported to be facing supply shortages from the start of their launch, drawing attention because they are the company’s first major products made on its advanced 18A process. Tech journalist Tim Culpan said contacts at three major PC makers cited shortages of Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake. Intel acknowledged some tight supply but said it is improving, as it pushes its IDM strategy and expands its foundry business.

PC market on alert as CPU shortage fuels price hikes and delays
A surge in computing demand from the global AI boom is pushing chipmakers to prioritise server processors, tightening supply of PC CPUs for consumers and signaling price increases of up to 15 percent. Reports said Intel and AMD have told customers they plan to raise supply prices across CPU lineups from March and April. Delivery times are also lengthening from weeks to months, while other component prices are rising as well.

Intel unveils 18A-based Core Ultra Series 3, declares leadership in AI PCs
Intel unveiled its first flagship processor based on its 18A process, Core Ultra Series 3, in South Korea. The company said it chose South Korea as the first regional launch market after sales began in the United States, citing the strategic importance of the local AI PC market. Intel showcased more than 30 AI PC laptop designs from nine makers including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. Executives highlighted power efficiency, hybrid core redesign and performance gains over the prior generation.
