Apple and Google seek crypto talent alongside stablecoin interest
Apple and Google have posted jobs seeking candidates with experience in stablecoins, tokenised deposits and blockchain infrastructure. Apple is recruiting in New York for an Apple Pay product strategy role and lists understanding of stablecoins and blockchain technology as a preferred qualification, without stating plans to integrate them. Google is hiring in Hong Kong for a Google Cloud Web3 architect role advising regional clients. Visa said stablecoin settlement volume exceeded $20 billion annualised in September.

Apple launches iPhone leasing program from $17.99 a month
Apple has launched a new leasing programme in the United States that lets customers use iPhones, Macs, iPads and Apple Watches by paying a fixed monthly fee instead of buying them. Apple said it is starting “Apple Upgrade” with buy now, pay later provider Klarna. The plan offers different contract terms by product and model, with higher monthly payments for shorter terms or larger storage. Users can return devices at the end or keep them by paying the remaining cost, and fees may apply for damage or changes.

Apple under CEO Tim Cook has been judged to have expanded its ecosystem through a wide range of products and services rather than a single breakthrough like the iPhone. On April 21, IT outlet NineToFiveMac grouped major launches since Cook took over into “best” and “disappointing” cases, citing AirPods, Apple Watch and the Apple Silicon transition as standout successes. It pointed to Vision Pro’s high price and the limited Apple Card as shortcomings, and said Apple Intelligence remains incomplete.
