China clarifies liability for AI deepfakes and face, voice cloning
China\'s Supreme People\'s Court has set standards for judging civil liability arising from AI deepfakes, voice cloning and AI hallucinations. Using or disclosing an identifiable face or voice created by AI without consent may be deemed an infringement of personality rights, it said. The guidance also sets out liability for AI service operators that fail to act after notice, and addresses algorithm-based price discrimination. Authorities are also stepping up enforcement against AI falsehoods and impersonation.

Darknet selling deepfake tools to bypass KYC, threatening finance and crypto platforms
Fraud tools that use AI deepfakes and real-time voice alteration to bypass know-your-customer checks on financial platforms are being sold on the darknet, Cointelegraph reported. Dark Web Informer said a seller known as Jinkusu offers tools to deceive KYC systems at banks and crypto platforms. Vecert Analyzer said the tool uses real-time face swaps via InsightFace and voice changes to evade biometric authentication.

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission on Monday held its first work briefing at a National Assembly committee meeting, about two months after Chair Kim Jong-cheol was appointed. Lawmakers focused on delayed relicensing of broadcasters, controversies over universal viewing rights and moves to enact an integrated media law. Discussions also covered Grok AI deepfake sexual exploitation, youth overdependence on social media and preparations for enforcement rules for the amended Information and Communications Network Act.
