KakaoGames said on Sunday it has signed a global publishing agreement for ArcheAge S: The Sea of Freedom, a new PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game under development by XL Games.

KakaoGames said the deal secures all domestic and global service rights for ArcheAge S. The title is being developed for a PC-only platform. Kim Kyung-tae (김경태), the original planning team leader and a former PD for the original ArcheAge, is overseeing the project and is focusing on implementing the core systems of the existing intellectual property.

KakaoGames has diversified its IP lineup by securing the new title after ArcheAge, ArcheAge War and ArcheAge Chronicle. The two companies plan to accelerate development, marketing and service launch preparations, aiming for an official launch next year.

KakaoGames CEO Lee Si-woo (이시우) said, "We expect ArcheAge S to carry on the essential fun of the ArcheAge IP, which has been loved by global users for a long time, while offering a new experience." He added, "We will make steady preparations so that we can demonstrate the competitiveness of the IP in the global market."

XL Games CEO Choi Kwan-ho (최관호) said, "We will do our best in development so that we can deliver a new experience that captures the original identity well and meets the expectations of global users."
