KT said on Wednesday it has launched a corporate-only 5G value-added service, the "Safety Management Watch," with Samsung Electronics to support safety management for industrial site workers.

The Safety Management Watch is provided through a corporate-only Galaxy Watch equipped with Samsung Electronics' "SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution."

Corporate-only 5G is a service that uses separate network equipment and a dedicated gateway to separate access data between general communications networks and corporate intranets. The SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution provides personalized management functions by integrating and analyzing environmental information such as temperature and humidity at industrial sites and workers' biometric data such as heart rate and activity levels.

Key features include emergency rescue requests (SOS), fall and drop detection, heart-rate deviation detection, heat stress management and control of entry into hazardous areas. It also provides a function that integrates management of device, area and user information.

Workers can check their health status, including heart rate, in real time through the Galaxy Watch. If a dangerous situation occurs, they can notify colleagues and managers. Safety managers can quickly identify and respond to dangerous situations by comprehensively checking site data such as workers' health status and weather, temperature and location.

KT and Samsung Electronics plan to expand the service to a range of industrial sites, including construction, manufacturing and logistics, based on a corporate-only network, wearable devices and the SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution.

Myung-jun Jeon (전명준), an executive director and head of the Enterprise Service Division at KT's Enterprise unit, said, "We have become able to provide a more convenient industrial safety service to corporate-only 5G customers." He said, "We will continue to expand safety AI transformation solutions to prevent industrial accidents and contribute to strengthening corporate customers' safety competitiveness."
