Neowiz said on Wednesday it reorganised its organisation into three groups to strengthen its global business capabilities and hired Chris Jung (크리스 정) as head of its Global Business Group.
The appointments came alongside a company-wide reorganisation. Neowiz divided its overall business organisation into three pillars: the New Title Development Group, the Global Business Group and the Live Game Business Group. Cho Min-gu (조민구), head of the Olympus division, was promoted to lead the newly established Live Game Business Group. The group will be responsible for stabilising services and advancing a data-driven operations system for web board games such as Pmang and existing intellectual property, including BrownDust2 and Cats & Soup.
Chris Jung, who will lead the Global Business Group, previously served as head of a business division at NCSoft and as head of its U.S. unit, before working as chief product officer at European video game company Wargaming. While at Wargaming, he oversaw business for titles including World of Tanks and World of Warships. He also founded game developer Motiga and introduced a new IP, Gigantic.
Neowiz plans to use his business experience as a starting point to pursue franchising of existing core IP such as Lies of P and to step up efforts to find new IP aimed at global markets.
In addition, incoming chief executive Sung-jun Park (박성준), nominated in June, will also serve as head of the New Title Development Group and lead development directly even after he formally takes office in August. Neowiz aims to complete a three-pronged structure to strengthen accountable management across new title development, global business and live services.
A Neowiz official said, "With Chris Jung joining, we have built a publishing organisation and capabilities with broad understanding from early development through franchising." The official added, "We will not only support new games so they can succeed in global markets, but also expand business opportunities such as finding and investing in new IP."
