[Digital Today reporter Sangyeop Oh] Mirae Asset Securities has unveiled its global investment platform MAPS (Mirae Asset Portfolio Service) in Hong Kong. It is designed to allow trading of traditional financial assets and digital assets on a single mobile platform.

Mirae Asset Securities' Hong Kong unit said on June 29 it had formally unveiled the global investment platform MAPS.

MAPS is the first global investment platform introduced under Mirae Asset's "Mirae Asset 3.0" vision, the firm's next-generation growth strategy. It is designed to allow trading of traditional assets and digital assets on a single mobile platform.

Mirae Asset Securities plans to build an environment that will allow foreign individual investors to invest in domestic stocks. It also plans to upgrade the service in stages after verifying stability and operating systems.

The launch of MAPS is significant as a starting point for Mirae Asset Securities to expand the digital platform competitiveness it has built by country into a single global platform.

Mirae Asset Securities has provided local investors with investment services for financial products through mobile trading platforms in major markets including South Korea, India, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Based on that experience and technology, MAPS is an integrated investment platform designed to let global investors access a range of financial products and markets on a single platform, beyond country-specific platforms.

The company chose Hong Kong as the first stage. Hong Kong is an Asian financial hub linking global capital markets and a market where systems related to digital assets are being rapidly put in place.

Mirae Asset Securities' Hong Kong unit received final approval in April from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for a digital asset retail licence. That laid the groundwork for it to provide digital asset trading services to individual investors in Hong Kong.

Mirae Asset Securities plans to use MAPS to expand the scope of trading and investment services to major global markets including the United States, South Korea, China and Singapore.

A Mirae Asset Securities official said MAPS is the first global investment platform that implements the Mirae Asset 3.0 vision. "We will ensure global investors can experience broader investment opportunities on a single platform," the official said.
