Upstage said on June 9 it has acquired Timely, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) multi-platform company.

The signing ceremony was held at Upstage’s Gangnam office with the CEOs and key employees of both companies in attendance.

Timely operates TimelyAI, a platform that allows users to build AI agents without coding. It provides integrated functions such as prompts, image and video generation, and document conversion based on various large language models (LLMs). It is used by local governments nationwide as well as public and educational institutions, including Seoul’s usage-based AI service, SeoulAI Chat.

Upstage plans to expand its AI agent business through TimelyAI equipped with its in-house LLM, Solar, following the acquisition. After acquiring AXZ, the operator of portal Daum, to broaden its model distribution channels, it plans to use the Timely deal to expand beyond its existing B2B base into public and education sectors and to general users.

Timely CEO Dae-hwan Kim (김대환) said, "We will lead the era of easy-to-use AI agents by enabling anyone to find the AI they need in one place."

Upstage CEO Sung-hoon Kim (김성훈) said, "Through this combination, we will make it an opportunity to raise the AI competitiveness of all citizens by one level."
