[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee] The Ministry of Science and ICT will hold the "2026 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Technology Commercialisation Festival" and the "2026 University Information and Communication Research Center (ITRC) Talent Development Expo" at COEX in Seoul from April 22 to 24 to introduce outstanding R&D results.
The events will be held in conjunction with the World IT Show. The ICT Technology Commercialisation Festival will feature exhibits by a total of 38 companies and institutions, focusing on areas with strong tangible effects such as public safety and services, robots, future mobility, defence and medical AI. It will also hold business consultations, including one-on-one investment consultations between companies and the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, venture capital firms and others, as well as sessions to identify joint business items in telecommunications based on cooperation with the three mobile carriers.
At the ITRC Talent Development Expo, research results created by 81 research centres at 38 universities nationwide participating in an ICT master's and doctoral-level talent development programme will be shared and disseminated. In 10 groups and a special exhibition hall organised with research topics in mind, visitors can hear from participating master's and doctoral students about their research and how the technologies can be used.
In the special exhibition hall, activities will include a pursuit-evasion control demonstration using an ultra-small indoor aircraft, an AR goggles experience using the field of view of a large drone, and a demonstration of a call-centre case for AI-based integrated voice security technology.
Lee Do-gyu (이도규), director general for ICT Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said the event was "a very meaningful occasion" to introduce outstanding outcomes from government R&D and talent development programmes. He said the ministry would strengthen policy support for commercialising government R&D and fostering top talent.
