Pulmuone Healthcare said on March 23 it has fully revamped the mobile app for its healthcare platform Designmeal. It also launched a "personalised total care service" that strengthens AI-based personalised nutrition management functions.

The company said the revamp aims to provide close care for daily diet management. While the existing Designmeal app focused on a subscription service that delivers set meal plans, the revamped Designmeal provides integrated care services such as nutrition diagnostics, meal recommendations and post-meal management, based on AI analysis of customers’ eating-habit data.

It also analyses individual dietary patterns and checks the balance of carbohydrate and sugar intake, reflecting health management trends such as blood sugar management, weight management and metabolic health improvement.

The AI curation function has also been upgraded. When users receive an "AI nutrition diagnosis" in the Designmeal app, they can check their nutrition management type and receive meal recommendations, and the revamp enhances the AI functions used for recommendations. Customers can receive more precise personalised meal recommendations than before, based on needed nutrients or management type. It also allows AI-recommended meal plans to be directly linked to actual subscription meal plans, leading to practical care.

Subscription members of Designmeal receive a dedicated care service. On the app’s main screen, users can see information on that day’s delivered meal plan and a nutrition report analysing the previous day’s meal records. Tailored health information and recommended content based on the user’s nutrition type are also shown first.

A daily nutrition report has also been introduced. At 8 a.m. each day, a notification delivers a report analysing meal-plan data consumed the previous day. AI provides specific guidance on nutrients that are lacking or excessive, such as "Yesterday, your sugar intake was high" and "Try supplementing more protein today." The company described it as a service that helps customers check their eating habits and maintain a balanced diet without expert knowledge.

User convenience has also been improved. The process of logging meal plans, which can be somewhat cumbersome, has been simplified by introducing AI technology. Without needing to enter items manually, customers can take a photo of a meal or speak the menu, and AI automatically records the meal plan and analyses nutrients.

Nam Jung-min (남정민), head of Pulmuone Healthcare's Platform Business Division, said, "We planned it so Designmeal can become an app that conveniently coaches eating habits in daily life." He said, "We will continue to provide care services that closely look after customers by combining Pulmuone's professional nutrition design know-how and advanced data analysis technology."
