China's large language model (LLM) startup Moonshot AI has unveiled its new foundation model Kimi K2.5, The Information reported on Jan. 27 local time. The company said it has strong capabilities in coding and understanding visual data.
Kimi K2.5 can process SMS text and image inputs. It can generate code based on images and video.
For complex tasks, Kimi K2.5 creates a "cluster" made up of as many as 100 specialised sub-agents and coordinates them to carry out tasks, the company said.
Moonshot AI previously unveiled Kimi K2 last year, and it received positive reviews for its coding capabilities and support for AI agents, The Information reported.
Kimi K2 gained popularity among U.S. developers looking for a low-cost coding AI that could be an alternative to OpenAI and Anthropic, The Information added.
Kimi K2.5 was released as DeepSeek is expected to unveil its next-generation model V4 soon.
