WorkOS, an enterprise authentication and security platform, said on Monday it raised $100 million in a Series C funding round.

Meritech and Sapphire led the round, with participation from Audacious, Craft, Abstract and GreenOaks, among others. WorkOS was valued at $2 billion in the investment.

The company said it helps businesses quickly implement security requirements such as single sign-on, user provisioning, access control and audit logs from the moment they launch software. It began with authentication and has expanded the platform to include granular access management, service integration, encryption, abuse detection, feature flags and the Model Context Protocol, among other tools.

Major fast-growing AI companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Cursor and Perplexity use the WorkOS platform.

WorkOS said the spread of AI is sharply shortening software development cycles. Work that used to take years is now completed in weeks or hours. In an environment where much of an organisation's software runs as agents without human intervention, authentication, authorisation and audit logs for all actions will be essential, the company said.

WorkOS plans to use the funds from the investment to focus on strengthening security and stability for agent software.
