The National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) said on Wednesday it has operated a market development delegation in Tokyo, Japan, from Oct. 28 to support Korean digital companies' entry into the Japanese market.

The event drew 37 Korean digital companies across areas such as AI software services, industrial AI transformation (AX) and security. About 100 Japanese companies attended.

The Korean participants introduced their technologies and services and held one-on-one business talks with Japanese companies. Export consultations worth a total of 45.8 billion won were held, focusing on local supply contracts, technology cooperation and joint commercialisation.

In the process, Mirrorroid signed an export contract. Five companies, including Kuntech, Dion IT, NPcore, Trustay and iPortfolio, signed memorandums of understanding.

During the event, NIPA expanded its cooperation network by engaging with major Japanese organisations and investment institutions related to the digital industry. It reviewed the possibility of local investment attraction and joint commercialisation, as well as technology exchanges and business matching.

Lim Hyeong-gyu (임형규), head of NIPA's Global Headquarters, said, "Combining Korea's innovative digital technologies with Japan's industrial capabilities is an important direction for cooperation in the AI era." He added, "We will actively support practical business cooperation between Korean and Japanese companies and help domestic companies secure growth opportunities in the global market."
