Apple has again applied the glowing Apple logo on the lid of its new MacBook Pro.
Apple said on Oct. 28, local time, that it unveiled a new MacBook Pro featuring a ProRed XDR display and revived an iconic design element from earlier MacBooks.
The glowing logo was one of the designs that represented earlier MacBooks. It was a feature that made them easy to distinguish from other laptops in cafes and offices, and it came to symbolize the product identity for long-time MacBook users.
Apple gradually phased out the glowing logo starting with the 12-inch MacBook in 2015. Non-illuminated logos were later applied to redesigned MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. The new MacBook Pro is drawing attention because it reintroduces the glowing logo.
In the industry, the change was assessed as meaningful for long-time Apple users. The explanation is that many users remember the glowing logo as a design that evokes nostalgia for Mac computing.
Apple Chief Executive Officer John Ternus (존 터너스) also hinted at the feature in a video released that day. The change is drawing notice because it revives the symbolism of earlier MacBooks not only in specifications such as the display but also in the exterior.
Attention is also focused on whether the glowing logo will be applied to models beyond the MacBook Pro. The reintroduction is interpreted as a sign showing the possibility of expanding it to other MacBook models in the future. Still, the view has been raised that it is more likely to be applied during future redesigns of other models than to be expanded across the full lineup immediately.
