[Digital Today reporter Jin-ho Lee (이진호)] KBS' 'Tracker 60 Minutes', which traced the lives of victims of Japan's military "comfort women" and addressed wartime violence against women, was selected for the top prize in the Broadcasting Media Communications Review Committee's 'This Month's Good Program' awards.
The committee presented four winning works for the August 2026 'This Month's Good Program' awards at the Broadcasting Hall in Mokdong, Seoul, on Oct. 28.
The top prize went to KBS 1TV's 'Tracker 60 Minutes - Comfort Women Memorial Day, Names That Could Not Return'. The programme uncovered records related to Japan's military "comfort women" scattered around the world and reconstructed the trajectory of the victims' lives. The committee highly оценated the programme for highlighting the issue beyond Korea-Japan historical disputes, from the perspective of wartime violence against women and serious human rights violations.
In the terrestrial radio category, the cpbc-FM special documentary 'Buying Parenting - Eco-friendly Parenting, Breaking the Chain of Money and Waste' was selected. It received a positive evaluation for pointing out problems in commercialised parenting culture and presenting a new approach to childcare through resource circulation.
In the new media category, the EBS Kids YouTube programme 'Earth Hero Lightning Man - The Day Lightning Becomes a Festival' won an award. The programme conveyed the value of communication and understanding through the growth process of a CODA child, a hearing child of deaf parents.
In the local broadcasting category, the KBS Jeonju 1TV special documentary 'War of Memory - After Comfort Women Testimony Stops' was selected. It highlighted the importance of historical responsibility and remembrance through the reality of the disappearance of testimony from surviving victims and Germany's examples of reflecting on its past.
The committee selects outstanding programmes each month in four categories: terrestrial TV, terrestrial radio, new media and local broadcasting. Among 48 annual winners, it additionally selects a total of four works, one from each category, as 'Good Program of the Year'.
